Celestron NexStar 130SLT – Review

Celestron NexStar 130SLT

Celestron NexStar 130SLTThe Celestron NexStar 130SLT is a high quality reflector telescope compatible with a 2 inch eyepiece. Aperture size is of extreme importance when it comes to capturing sharp images of astronomical objects, and this telescope does just that with its 130mm (5″) primary mirror. Furthermore,, the Newtonian design produces fully colour-corrected views of objects.

The Celestron NexStar 130SLT is motorized, easy to operate and computerized with over 4,000 celestial objects pre-programmed in its software. At a weight of 18 pounds it is not the lightest telescope but nevertheless is still fairly portable and can be ready to use in just a few minutes. This reasonably priced beginner telescope will allow you to view crisp images of the moon, and see much further afield including the ice caps on Mars, the cloud belts on Jupiter along with its four moons, and many deep space Messier objects, including over 600 galaxies.

Verdict: Excellent telescope with amazing overall value
